five thoughts on friday

Happy first day of summer y'all!! I have been under the weather the past week and a bit so the blog has taken a back seat. My brain is mostly concentrating on coughing, sneezing and breathing as discreetly as possible so as not to gross out my co-workers. It's a big job.

So since my head's too foggy to puzzle together a coherent post,  I'm linking up again for the 5 on Friday over here

one. On Wednesday, I got punched in the face.... by a big heavy door (major blonde moment) and it really rattled my brain. The swollen lip and a headache is another reason why you're getting a list today instead of a "real" post.  I mentioned this casually to my mom thinking she'd get a laugh out of it but of course she immediately pictured brain trauma, and concussions, and made me promise to get my Physician's Assistant roommate to examine me. She cleared me and my mom could sleep a little easier.

two. Last weekend I went back down to Charleston. Three trips to SC in a month is my idea of a good time. Maybe all the planes and cabin pressure is a contributing factor to my cold? In between all my travelling I've completely used up all my anytime minutes talking on the phone this month. We are now in rollover minutes, something I've  never had to use before. A lot of good words crossing the airwaves people.

three. Tomorrow I am going to a Zac Brown Band concert with my roommate and her boyfriend. Kind of third wheeling it but I am so pumped! It's outdoors and the weather is supposed to be beautiful this weekend.

(lyrics from my favorite Zac Brown song, Free | print from here)

four. I made my first ever eBay purchase this week and had way to much fun bidding- I totally get how people could get addicted to it. I geeked out and bought a Nintendo 64 console and controllers and Mario Kart.  This totally takes me back to childhood and Mario Kart is one of those games that you're never too old to play. I get super competitive and just have this picture in my head of my roommates and I and maybe my future kids one day playing on the floor.
five. I am still trying to do Beth Moore's Siesta Sister Scripture Memory Challenge but the past few verses have gone in one ear and out the other. I really love the ones I'm trying to memorize so I'm going to share this month's here. The more I write them down the more I commit them to heart...

"No one will ever stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you." Joshua 1:5

"But let all who take refuge in the Lord be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you."  Psalm 5:11

  1. I've been working on the Siesta scripture memory too! I have never really worked on memorizing scripture and have really enjoyed this. I don't have near as much as you going on in my life. I can see how it's a challenge for you. A couple of my verses have been difficult. I balance that out with a few short ones like Phil 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

  2. In my defense, my paranoia is in direct proportion to your sense of drama : ) I love your verses this month! If you go to the celebration in Houston in January, I think you have to say 12 of your 24 which I think I can do.

  3. Travelling is a part of life. Sometimes travelling is planned as for holidays, and sometimes because of some urgent work. Trips are important for life as they bring lot of joy and a change from monotonous routine. I also love travelling and love to go on trips. I cannot work continuously for months, i always need break after one month as it energies me to work in future. I prefer using cars for travelling as they make travelling very comfortable. I recently went to Belfast and hired a van as we went six people ona trip, which was very good to travel in. You can read this for further information http://www.dan-dooley.ie/van_rental.php
