2011 Siesta Scripture Memory

Hey girls! This year I am going to participate in Living Proof Ministries' "Siesta Scripture Memory" challenge. Over the course of the year I will (attempt) to memorize, and commit to heart, 24 scripture verses.

The challenge is to select 24 verses, two a month, that mean something to you, that you feel led to remember. On the 1st and 15th of each month you post your verse (along with the reference and the translation) on LPM's blog. Then in January 2012, my mom and I are going to the Siesta Scripture Celebration together!! I am going to share my verses on my blog. I think it will help me remember them if I see them on my sidebar.

For the official rules on how you can participate go here.

For me this is going to be a challenge in self discipline, and a challenge to actually remember to post a verse each time. Learning scripture and being able to call upon it, is something I desperately need. I am going to select verses that will hopefully teach me to let go of my worries, my fears and the uncertainty I feel about the future. I'm praying that God leads me to verses that help me let go and get out of my own way to see God working in my life. But I know that anytime spent reading the bible and studying His word can only bless my life (even if I don't memorize 24 verses.)

Go here to post your first verse if you want.

  2. I wanted to do this when Beth did it 2 years ago and got in on it too late and was disappointed when she did not do it last year, so I signed up this year!!! I am terrible at memorizing stuff, but I pray that God will give me the ability to do it. Your Mom and I have a mutual blog friend who did it last time and she and I were just talking last night and hoping that your Mom would do it this year, so we could all finally meet each other. (Although I hope to get to meet you and your Mom before next January!) I would love my girls to do it too! I think it would be such a fun trip to look forward to after Christmas next year! I am way behind on my blogging. December just about killed me this year! I love the holidays, but it was extremely busy. Glad for things to settle down. Glad you all had a wonderful time in Tenn. Love & blessings from NC!
