Notice Anything New?

I told ya'll I was excited for spring didn't I? Well, this is a blog header that yours truly (that's me) made! I made it a while ago and was saving it for the warmer weather. While I don't think we're completely done with all the cold I am very hopefully that we've turned a corner. If it snows again I'll take it down... but it better not! I paired it with a simpler background by Shabby Chic blogs because the header is really busy but I think it works.
So this little guy is Jordan (but I don't really think that is a good dog name so I am going to call him Bear because that it what I would name him). Bear is my friend's adorable 4 month old Bernese Mountain Dog, isn't he adorable?! He is going to be huge, around 100 pounds! My boyfriend and I babysat him for a few hours yesterday. It was so much fun! We went for a really long walk around the lake on campus in the beautiful sunshine so we could wear him out (and show him off-we had so many people coming up to us to pet him and he is soo fluffy).
I am sad these pictures are so blurry but he absolutely worked himself into a frenzy over the camera strap and the flash and I couldn't get him to stay still!

After the walk the three of us had dinner in my apartment! I used my new slow cooker for the first time! I made a delicious brisket and mashed potatoes! There is nothing better than coming back to your apartment and opening the door to that yummy smell! And it's the easiest thing in the world-I made it in the morning before church in approximately 5 minutes, turned the crock pot on low and left it for the day!

I am so excited about using my crock pot so if anyone has any good recipes for a slow cooker I would love to give em' a try!

  1. Shannon,

Do you know I had never seen a Bernese mountain dog until I moved to England? I'm in love with how beautiful they are! When we went to Austria, we saw 2 or 3 in the same day. They're gorgeous.

I have a couple of crockpot cookbooks, but I don't use them as much as I should. Good for you for cooking such a nice meal and then reaping the benefits when you got home.

Have a great and blessed day.

P.S. I love your new blog look. You did a great job on that header.

  3. I love your new header. Isn't it fun to swing? Reminds me of happy childhood times at the park. That dog is so adorable! Glad you are loving your new crockpot. Look in the grocery store for the dry packaged mixes from McCormick to use with the crock pot. They are really good. I love their one for chicken noodle soup. Easy, but good! Speaking of snow, we are supposed to have snow flurries here tomorrow. I am so ready for spring. Have a wonderful week. Love & blessings from NC!
