Ask Me What I Want

If you ask me what I want most in life I'd tell you that more than anything I want...

to be a wife
to be a mom
to follow Christ with my whole life
and to fall more in love with Him everyday

Where are my unmarried, single-girl bloggers at??
I feel like we're not a hugely represented group in the blogosphere.
Maybe it's just because nearly every blog I follow seems to be written by either a newly engaged/ newlywed/ new mom/ or awesome mom blogger.
My perspective is a little skewed and don't you know that comparison is the thief of joy?

This in-between and sometimes frustrating stage of life involves a lot of waiting. And feeling like your on the brink of all you've ever wanted, but you're just not getting there fast enough.

Trusting in God's timing, while at the same time longing for Him to hurry it up!

I am learning BIG (sometimes hard) lessons these days. But I can so clearly hear God speaking to me everyday. Clearer than ever before.

Be patient, I have plans to prosper you. Trust me! Be HERE with me now, in this moment, in this place where I have brought you. You are exactly where I want you to be and I will not abandon you here. I know the desires of your heart.

I just have this crazy assurance that God is making me stronger, drawing me nearer, covering me in his strength. Strength to not just "get through" this stage, but strength to make much of Him all along the way- even when I'm frustrated or discouraged.

And I am finding joy and excitement.
For the future, for right now and for everything God has promised.

"Rejoice in the Lord always.
I will say it again: Rejoice!
Let your gentleness be evident to all.
The Lord is near."

Philippians 4: 4-5

  1. RIGHT there with you, girl!

Single-girl blogger here. And content with life.

Though, I agree with you on ALL the things you wrote about what you want out of life. But, you know what? Those will come when they're supposed to come. I'm sure He has a plan.

    1. You are so right- His timing is perfect. His plan is better than my own.

  5. I read this post a couple of days ago....and decided to give you some advice (as one of those mom bloggers) I give lots of young women in your stage of life. I know you get anxious to get on with the next stage. But waiting is good. Hard, I know. Be careful that you don't get so tired of waiting that you decide to settle for a guy to be your husband just because you've waited and you're not sure anyone else will come along. Don't settle. I have watched a family member over the last 30 years in a not very happy not at all what she hope for marriage. I think she settled because she didn't think anyone else would come along.
    I know this was unsolicited...

    1. Thanks for your kind advice Judy! You are so right- I definitely do not want to settle. I'll just keep on waiting. God is faithful.

  6. Hi Shannon :) So, I don't blog anywhere near as much as I think about it, but this post, and being single, has just really been on my heart and mind lately. I think you really verbalized how I've been feeling about my single-ness lately. I'm doing my thing, living my life, enjoying my single time the best I can, but I just can't help but wonder how much anticipation can one person contain? Apparently, a lot.

  7. Hey Shannon! Found you through the link-up and I already love your blog, just from this one post. I'm a single girl, in my twenties, waiting on God's timing to bring me my hunk! And I agree, us single girls need to be more represented in the blog world. Adding you to my reader! :)
