What I Read in August

Last month's reads:

Beach Music- Pat Conroy: I love Pat Conroy and all his books that I've read. The Prince of Tides is one of my top ten favorites. I love how he talks about South Carolina and describes it with such poetry, he transports you to that low country. Beach Music covered such a range of stories and lifetimes not the least of which included the Holocaust, the Vietnam war and their lingering affects on the cast of characters in small town near Charleston, SC.

The Book Thief- Markus Szusak: This book had the most unusual and creative narrator, Death. He watches over the horror of the second World War paying particular interest to an girl who becomes a book thief.

Random Harvest- James Hilton: Someone left me a comment on this post reccomending this book. She said it was her's and her librarian's favorite books.

The House at Riverton- Kate Morton: The story's narrator has kept a secret from her past for her entire life. You just have got to find out what it is. Being that I am the worst secret keeper I know (maybe ever) this definitely kept me hooked. It's a period story covering the years leading up to WWI and the damaged years that followed. (Trust me, if you enjoy Downton Abbey this is right up your alley!)

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest- Stieg Larrsson: I finished the trilogy and was quite satisfied with the way everything was wrapped up.

The Hiding Place- Corrie ten Boom: Corrie ten Boom is my hero. Read this now. One of the most inspiring books I've ever read. Ever in my life.
