Memorial Day Weekend Wedding

This past weekend I got to have another reunion with some more of my best friends at a wedding (tis the season)! I arrived in NC late (thanks Philadelphia airport- I could've driven there faster) Friday night and couldn't wait to see everyone. I love getting joining hotel rooms with my besties!

We woke up in the morning and met the bride and some of the bridesmaids for brunch- she seemed so calm and just plain excited. A big pancake breakfast with the girls was a good way to kill some time before she had to go get ready. I'm impressed she was able to sit still.
My roommate from college and I were wearing the same dress and couldn't resist documenting it. (Target, in case there was any question.)

We also had some time to kill before the ceremony- not that long though: 7 girls, 2 showers, you do the math. I must say we were a very colorful party and definitely stood out as the college friends of the bride.
I got to wear a new-ish dress that I am in love with! It's "tangerine" colored, has pockets, is swingy, and from Urban Outfitters. I also got a new bright necklace from H&M to go along with it.
Above is my forever roommate as we like to think of ourselves.
And this sweet girl is my current roommate who was a bridesmaid. The bride's colors were red and black which is not common for summertime but was very much her style.

We were the last ones on the dance floor and I was tuckered out by the time we got back to the hotel- of course that didn't stop me from staying up for more girl talk time. I gotta say- I'm a big fan of holiday weekend weddings. It was so nice getting to take our time driving home on Sunday and then having Monday to relax.

Monday night we had a small cookout at our house. I made the sweet tea and peanut butter cookies- both very American in my opinion.

I am loving that this is a shorter week and will hopefully make it easier to get back into blogging (I feel like I am always saying that...)

Bachelorette Beach Weekend

The past 2 weekends have been full and fun- yes I've been packing, unpacking, and repacking but I don't mind. Let's start with two weeks ago... I went to Florida for my girlfriend's bachelorette weekend in Destin Florida. Beautiful!
The Maid of Honor got everyone these great hats with our monograms on them- normally I wouldn't share bikini pics on here but this one was taken at a safe distance. I simply had to show off the entire bridal party in our hats. We weren't being obnoxious at all.
We had absolutely perfect weather- I had so much fun catching up with everyone and celebrating miss LC! Celebrating included laying out with our toes in the sand, dressing up for dinners in town, enjoying free champagne and more time on the beach.
I can't wait for us to all be together again for her big day in August.

And On We Go

I feel like so much has happened is such a short period of time (although I feel like I've been away from my life for ages) and I just cannot think of the best way to write about or if I even should. I feel somewhat conflicted writing like normal when our family is still searching for the new normal, if there is such a thing.
After my sister's graduation, our interrupted time in Florida (where I managed to get enough sun on the first day to last me all week) and our coming together as a family to support one another and to celebrate Anna, I just don't know where to begin.

I returned from Chicago Tuesday night (I think). It was not easy to leave all my family. My parents dropped sister and I off at the airport in the afternoon before they began the long drive back to NJ. Sister and I got to get lunch together at the airport and spend a little more time talking before we had another tearful (on my part) goodbye and headed to our respective gates.

It was good to sleep in my own bed and un-pack my suitcase (somewhat). And see my roommate after what feels like a month! Work was very understanding of the extra, unexpected time away. Although I'm sure they're not thrilled that I'm turning around and heading out again tonight after work. Yep, that's right. Life does indeed go on, even if you cannot understand why or how.

After doing a lot of laundry last night I dragged my suitcase to work with me again. I will be metroing to the airport that I just returned from two days ago and flying to Florida, again. This time to celebrate my dear friend's upcoming wedding and to have a big hootenanny at the beach. I'm hoping my slowly-fading-to-tan-sunburned legs will provide a decent base to get some actual color. A girls weekend is a magical, healing thing- wouldn't you agree?

Precious

Mother's day did not pass unnoticed and I was so grateful for this time with my mom. Even in the midst of a lot of stress and sadness her love and support can get me through all life throws my way. There will never be enough words to express how much I need her! Time with her, and time with family, is so precious and not to be taken for granted. I will never get enough of it!

I love you mom!

Sweet Anna

Just a brief note to let you all know that my beloved cousin Anna, whose journey I've posted about a few times on here, went home to Jesus on Tuesday, May 8th. Although sadnesss threatens to overwhelm us, we find peace knowing that her suffering is over.

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7

Our entire family and all of the people who loved Anna so dearly have come together to celebrate her life, and to stand in awe of her courage and the strength of her faith that never waivered even on the hardest days.

"For I consider the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us." Romans 8:18

Quick Update

I decided to unplug this week and not bring my laptop on this trip. So now I'm writing this from my cellphone. But I wanted to show off a couple pictures.

Because I did it!
I cut off 12 inches of hair! (10 to give away and at least 2 in the styling process). Go big or go home! I decided not to be vain about my hair because Anna didn't get to be vain about her hair and the children who will receive a wig don't either.

I've posted a before and after. It feels so different and I feel so much lighter. A huge change that I was happy to make!
